We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution in Peru overall due to the threat of violent crime. Higher levels apply in some areas. All land and sea borders with Ecuador will be closed from 8 to 10 February due to the Ecuadorian presidential election on 9 February. Entry via air travel during this time will still be possible (see ‘Travel’).  

Peru is currently experiencing a major dengue outbreak. Consult your doctor before travel for advice on prevention and get medical advice if you become unwell (see ‘Health’).
