Demonstrations may occur in the lead up to Malawi’s general elections due to be held on 16 September. Demonstrations and protests can be unpredictable and may turn violent quickly. During periods of unrest, monitor local media for updates, avoid affected areas and follow the advice of local authorities (see ‘Safety’).
