Madagascar

We’ve reviewed our advice for Madagascar and continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution due to the threat of crime, risk of natural disasters and disease outbreaks. The next round of elections in Madagascar will be held in December 2024. Avoid public demonstrations and large gatherings as they could turn violent.

If you’re arriving from a country affected by cholera, you’ll need to undertake additional sanitation measures. You may be asked to take an antibiotic. You may also need to provide your details to health authorities for follow-up contact (see ‘Travel’).

We advise:

Exercise a high degree of caution in Madagascar due to the threat of crime and risk of natural disasters and disease outbreaks.
