Protests can occur in Madagascar, including in the capital Antananarivo. Protests can turn violent with little or no warning, disrupting public transport services. The airport may also be impacted. Contact your airline or travel provider before you travel to the airport. Curfews may be imposed at short notice. Avoid demonstrations and large public gatherings, monitor local media and follow the instructions of local authorities including curfew orders (see ‘Safety’).
We advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in Madagascar due to the threat of crime and risk of natural disasters and disease outbreaks.
