The new European Entry/Exit System (EES) has started for all non-EU nationals, including Australians, travelling in or out of the Schengen Area. You’ll need to register at borders and have your fingerprint and photo taken. There may be longer border queues (see ‘Travel’).

There’s an ongoing threat of terrorism in Austria. There have been terrorist attacks and arrests relating to planned attacks. Be vigilant in public places and follow the advice of local authorities. Report anything suspicious to the police (see ‘Safety’).
