We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has strict laws on national security that can be interpreted broadly and could be applied to activities that occurred overseas. Authorities can request access to personal electronic devices and passwords from anyone in Hong Kong, including if you’re transiting through the airport.
From 30 April, it’s illegal to import alternative smoking products (vapes, heated tobacco products, herbal cigarettes) or possess them in public places, even in transit inside the airport (see ‘Local laws’).
We advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in Hong Kong.
