We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution in Azerbaijan overall due to the threat of terrorism. Higher levels apply in some areas. Military conflict in the Middle East region may result in airspace closures, flight cancellations and other travel disruptions.

Terrorism is a threat, including in Azerbaijan. Terrorist attacks could happen at any time or place. Maintain a high level of security awareness. Avoid places that attract foreigners, tourists or crowds. If there’s a security incident, follow the advice of local authorities (see ‘Safety’).

Land border crossings into a neighbouring country may open and close at short notice. Check with local authorities on entry requirements and border arrangements. Plan for possible delays and make sure you have supplies of food, water and medication (see ‘Travel’).
