If needed, shelter in a safe place and follow the advice of local authorities, including on curfews and restrictions on public gatherings. Avoid large gatherings, including protests, demonstrations and rallies. The road to Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport remains open. Passengers must present a ticket that acts as a curfew pass. Passengers should allow additional time for check-in and security procedures at the airport (see ‘Safety’).
Communications have been severely disrupted. Internet services and mobile data has been restored in some areas of Bangladesh, although with restrictions. Fuel supplies may be impacted and there’s transport disruptions and traffic delays. Flights may be cancelled at short notice.
We now advise:
Reconsider your need to travel to Bangladesh overall due to civil unrest and the threat of terrorism.
