On 7 December, an attempted coup took place in Benin. The Government of Benin has regained control. Increased presence of security forces has been reported, particularly in Cotonou. The security situation may change at short notice. Avoid demonstrations and large gatherings. Follow the advice of local authorities and monitor reputable media for updates on the evolving situation (see ‘Safety’).
