A typhoon warning is in effect for southern China. Super Typhoon Ragasa is forecast to make landfall in south China over the coming days. Strong winds, heavy rain and storm surges are expected. If you’re in affected areas, monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities. Travel disruptions may occur, including flight cancellations and some border crossing closures. Check with your travel provider for updates to your travel plans.
We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution in China. There has been no change to the overall level of our advice. As previously advised, authorities have detained foreigners on the grounds of ‘endangering national security’. Australians may be at risk of arbitrary detention, exit bans or harsh enforcement of local laws, including broadly defined National Security Laws.
We advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in China overall.
