We continue to advise reconsider your need to travel to the city of Quibdo (Choco) and the town of Ipiales (Nariño) due to the threat of drug-related criminal activity by illegal armed groups. We also advise reconsider your need to travel to within 20km of the border with Brazil and Peru, except for the area south of the Putumayo River in Amazonas.
Do not travel to Colombia’s border with Venezuela, including the city of Cucuta, the Catatumbo region in Norte de Santander and Cesar, and the department of Cauca (except Popayán and the Pan American Highway), among other areas, due to increased violence from illegal armed groups and other criminal organisations.
We advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in Colombia overall due to the threat of violent crime and terrorism.
Higher levels apply in some areas.
