Hurricane Melissa is expected to intensify before making landfall in Cuba. Flights may be disrupted and airport closures may occur. Monitor media, contact your airline for updates and follow the instructions of local authorities (see ‘Safety’).

We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution in Cuba. If you’ve travelled to Cuba since January 2021, you’re not eligible to participate in the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP). You need a visa to enter Cuba. There’s an ongoing severe shortage of fuel, which is impacting transport and other government services. There’s also a severe shortage of food and drinking water (see ‘Travel’).
