Democratic Republic of the Congo

The security situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is volatile. Conflict in Eastern DRC is ongoing. Leave affected areas if it’s safe to do so.  Protests have been occurring in Kinshasa, including outside embassies and UN offices. Protests may occur without warning. Avoid areas where protests are happening. Roadblocks and road closures may occur without notice. Monitor local media for updates on protests and follow the advice of local authorities. There’s an ongoing risk of infection from Ebola virus and Mpox in DRC.

We advise:

Reconsider your need to travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo overall due to the volatile security situation and the threat of terrorism and kidnapping.

Higher levels apply in some areas.
