The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) a public health emergency. The Bundibugyo strain of Ebola has no approved vaccines or specific antiviral treatments. Maintain strict hygiene standards and avoid physical contact with anyone displaying symptoms (see ‘Health’).
We continue to advise do not travel to the DRC due to the volatile security situation and the threat of conflict, violent protests, terrorism and kidnapping. Violent demonstrations and protests may occur in Kinshasa and other locations (see ‘Safety’).
