Guinea

We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution overall in Guinea. Higher levels apply in some areas. Presidential elections will take place on 28 December 2025. Authorities could establish checkpoints or announce restrictions on movements by road or air, including in the capital Conakry. Avoid protests and public gatherings as they can turn violent, follow the advice of local authorities and monitor local media for updates. There’s ongoing heightened political and social tensions, including in the capital, Conakry, and other towns. The situation may deteriorate without warning. Fuel and water shortages occur regularly. Ensure that you maintain enough food, water and emergency supplies. The Australian High Commission in Accra has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in Guinea.

We advise:

Exercise a high degree of caution in Guinea overall due to the risk of civil unrest.

Higher levels apply in some areas.
