Guinea

We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution in Guinea. Higher levels apply in some areas. Parliamentary elections are scheduled for late May. There’s ongoing political and social tensions, including in Conakry. The situation may deteriorate without warning. Border closures, curfews and other movement restrictions may occur. Fuel and water shortages occur regularly. Ensure that you maintain enough food, water and emergency supplies (see ‘Safety’). The Australian High Commission in Accra has very limited capacity to provide consular assistance in Guinea.

We advise:

Exercise a high degree of caution in Guinea overall due to the risk of civil unrest.

Higher levels apply in some areas.
