Guyana’s General and Regional Elections will be held on 1 September 2025. Political rallies are common. Avoid protests and large public gatherings. These can turn violent (see ‘Safety’).

There’s continuing tension between Guyana and Venezuela. The security situation may deteriorate near the Venezuelan border. If you choose to travel in this area, monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities.
