The new European Entry/Exit System (EES) starts on 12 October for all non-EU nationals, including Australians, travelling in or out of the Schengen Area. You’ll need to register at borders and have your fingerprint and photo taken. There may be longer border queues (see ‘Travel’).

Hungary has passed legislation that could provide a legal basis to ban LGBTQIA+ Pride events, including the Budapest Pride. Authorities can use facial recognition technology to identify and fine anyone who takes part in illegal or banned demonstrations.
