The security situation across Nepal remains unpredictable after widespread civil unrest and violence. An interim government was appointed in September, with elections planned for March 2026. During this political transition, including in the lead up to elections, further protests are possible. The situation may deteriorate without warning. Authorities may enforce curfews at short notice. Stay alert and follow the instructions of local authorities. Avoid areas affected by demonstrations, protests and other public gatherings and only move around if you can do so safely.
