Nepal

Since civil unrest and violence in September 2025, the security situation remains unpredictable. National elections will be held on 5 March. In the lead up to and during the elections, protests may occur at short notice and can turn violent. The situation may deteriorate without warning. Authorities may restrict travel in the lead up to, and on election day, and may enforce curfews at short notice. Travel disruptions, including significant delays to international and domestic flights, may occur. There may be police checkpoints. Stay alert and follow the instructions of local authorities.

Avoid polling stations, government buildings, areas affected by demonstrations, protests and other public gatherings and only move around if you can do so safely. (See ‘Safety’).

We advise:

Reconsider your need to travel to Nepal due to civil unrest and the risk of natural disasters.
