The Netherlands is hosting the NATO Summit in The Hague from 24 to 25 June. Large crowds are expected. From 22 to 26 June, there will be severe disruptions to public transport and several major roads will be closed, affecting travel between The Hague and other major cities. Avoid the area if possible, monitor the media, and follow the advice of local authorities (see ‘Travel’).

The Netherlands national terrorism threat level remains at ‘substantial’ – level 4 of 5. Terrorists may target tourist areas or other places frequented by foreigners. Take official warnings seriously and follow the advice of local authorities (see ‘Safety’).
