If you decide to remain in Russia against our advice, you’re responsible for your own safety and that of your family. Armed conflict and a federal state of emergency exist along the Russian and Ukrainian borders. The security situation could deteriorate further with little warning. Departure routes from Russia can be disrupted with little notice. Review your personal security plans and have an alternate exit plan. Authorities may arbitrarily enforce local laws. Avoid protests or demonstrations and commenting publicly on political developments, including on social media.
There’s a high threat of terrorism. Attacks can be indiscriminate and may occur with little or no warning in public places, including popular tourist sites. Always be alert to possible threats.
We continue to advise:
Do not travel to Russia due to the dangerous security situation, the impacts of the military conflict with Ukraine and the risk of arbitrary detention or arrest.
