We continue to advise exercise normal safety precautions overall in Rwanda. Higher levels apply in some areas. Fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) may affect people on the Rwandan side of the border. Do not travel to the Rubavu district, including the town of Gisenyi, due to the volatile security situation. If you’re in the Rubavu district, you should leave if it is safe to do so. Rwanda’s border with Burundi remains closed (see ‘Safety’).
