Access to Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam is limited. Some flights to and from Zanzibar and other airports have been cancelled. Ferries between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar are not currently running. There are disruptions to telecommunications and internet services. Contact your travel provider or airline to confirm your flight and proceed to the airport only if it is safe to do so. Otherwise, shelter in place. Avoid protests, demonstrations and large gatherings. Check local media for updates and follow the instructions of local authorities, including curfew orders (see ‘Safety’).
We advise:
Reconsider your need to travel overall due to civil unrest and violent protests, including limited access to airports, and the risk of violent crime.
Higher levels apply in some areas.
