Thailand

We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution in Thailand. There’s an ongoing risk of terrorism in Thailand. Popular tourist areas, including Bangkok and Phuket, may be the target of terrorist attacks. We continue to advise reconsider your need to travel to Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat provinces (see ‘Safety’).

Do not travel to areas within 50 kilometres of the Thailand-Cambodia land border in the provinces of Sa Kaeo, Buriram, Si Saket, Surin and Ubon Ratchathani. This is due to recent armed conflict between Thai and Cambodian forces, which included military strikes, violence and the presence of landmines.  A ceasefire has been agreed between Thailand and Cambodia but the security situation along the Thailand-Cambodia border remains unpredictable. Follow the advice of local authorities, monitor local media for updates and pay close attention to your personal security (see ‘Safety’).

We advise:

Exercise a high degree of caution in Thailand overall due to security and safety risks.

Higher levels apply in some areas.
