We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution in Timor-Leste. Protests may occur and can quickly escalate and turn violent. Avoid protests and large gatherings. Transport and other essential services may be disrupted. Monitor media for updates and follow the advice of local authorities (see ‘Safety’).
You can get a 30-day visa on arrival if you visit as a tourist and arrive via President Nicolau Lobato International Airport or Dili Seaport. If you enter at another location or by land, you’ll need to get a visa before arrival (see ‘Travel’).
We advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in Timor-Leste due to the threat of crime and limited healthcare options.
