Pope Francis will visit Timor-Leste from 9 to 11 September, and a large number of pilgrims are expected to visit Dili for this event. There’s likely to be extra demands on local infrastructure and resources. Make early preparations if you’re visiting Dili during this time (see ‘Travel’). You can get a 30-day visa on arrival if you visit as a tourist and arrive via Nicolau Lobato International Airport or Dili Seaport. If you enter at another location or by land, you’ll need to get a visa before arrival (see ‘Travel’).
