The Trinidad and Tobago government has declared a State of Emergency due to heightened criminal activity (see ‘Safety’). There may be an increased police presence and minor disruptions, such as roadblocks. Curfews may be imposed at short notice. Monitor local media for updates and follow the advice of local authorities.
If you’re visiting for up to 90 days, you can enter under the visa waiver program and there’s an entry fee. If you’re visiting for more than 90 days you’ll need an e-Visa (see ‘Travel’).
We advise:
Exercise a high degree of caution in Trinidad and Tobago due to the threat of violent crime.
